Participation and Evaluation: Attendance at all lectures and all meetings of discussion sections is mandatory. Students are expected to take all weekly section quizzes, the mid-term and the final examination. Approximate weightings of each activity in the final evaluation will be:
|
Weekly quizzes |
15% |
|
Mid-term examination |
40% |
|
Final examination |
45% |
Missed Examination Policy: There will be no make-ups for missed quizzes, but the lowest weekly score will be discarded before calculating the total. If the mid-term is missed, students may request a make-up; this will be granted only for compelling, well-documented reasons (e.g. death, serious illness) and at the discretion of the instructor. If the final is missed, no make-up is possible, but students may request an Incomplete; this will be granted only for compelling, well-documented reasons, and at the discretion of the Instructor.
Study Questions: Each Friday, several study questions will be emailed to all enrolled students and placed on the class WWW site. These questions are guides to identify and help you study the main points covered that week, and give you some experience of possible examination questions.
