Resident Male vs Pre-receptive female: "Precopulatory female rejection"

During the course of the day, a male may visit and solicit a female several times. This persistent male visited the same female within 5 minutes. Both times she gave the male the class brush off which includes a flick of her tail high in the air which is usually held high and curly. Persumably, this prevents the male from grabbing the females tail in his mouth, an act that preceeds copulation with a receptive female.
