Why is a biology degree one of the most useful degrees to have?

The Ecology and Evolution program at the University of California at Santa Cruz is designed to provide you with the practical training necessary for careers in a diversity of disciplines including government, private industry, private industry, and academic settings. Whether you are interested in lab or field-based careers we provide the writing skills, statistical skills, lab and field methods that make you competitive for a variety of jobs. Ask your faculty mentor to design a program of study that fits your career interests or to find out more about possible career opportunities. Some careers require additional graduate training. If you are an undergraduate, enrol in an independent study or honors thesis course to obtain the kind of experience that gives you an edge in graduate or job applications. Quality performance on your part will lead to quality letters of recommendation from your faculty mentors, which are invaluable in furthering your long-term career goals.
