  1. Define the terms Standard Metabolic Rate and VO2max on a graph that shows the relationship between speed and oxygen consumption. Indicate where Glycolysis kicks in and where the animal is using the Krebs Cycle.
  2. Compare and contrast acute versus chronic thermal physiological traits and list two of each.
  3. Why should we expect thermal performance breadth to evolve in a species of lizard that is found in a forest?
  4. Write down the energy balance equation and discuss each term with regards to ecotherm energy balance. Which terms are likely to affect amphibians and which are more likely to affect reptiles?
  5. What term dominates in the energy balance of a small lizard like Uta stansburiana and which term dominates in the energy balance of a large lizard like Sauromalous obesus? Why?
  6. Discuss the costs and benefits of thermoregulation with regards to a lizard like Sceloporus occidentalis in a desert, and a lizard like Anolis carolinensis in a Louisiana forest.
