Thamnophis elegans vagrans - Wandering Garter Snake

     1.  Mostly brown to green ground color, with a dull to faded yellow dorsal stripe
     2.  Small dark spots on body widely separated, sometimes becoming solid black between stripes
     3.  Melanistic populations found in Washington
