Chionactis occipitalis occipitalis - Mojave Shovel-Nosed Snake

     1.  Many populations are not tricolored, but instead are banded with neon yellow and brown crossbands
     2.  High band count; usually more than 45 total bands
     3.  Spends most of its time buried; crepescular during the spring, and nocturnal during the summer months
