Yvette R. Alva-Campbell

In my academic career I have acquired a substantial amount of experience in the field of evolutionary biology. I have worked on a wide range of organisms ultimately interested in understanding the evolutionary processes that govern present day species distributions. Currently, I am obtaining my doctorate at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB). My research combines population genetics, ecology, and geology in order to reconstruct the historical biogeography of three species of reef fish endemic to the Tropical Eastern Pacific. This research will shed light on the evolutionary forces that govern population structure in a relatively unknown environment, the marine realm.
