The Molecular Ecology and Evolutionary Genetics Facility is an interdepartmentally shared core facility supporting molecular biological studies in a variety of applications. It is located in the Earth and Marine Sciences Building on the campus of UC Santa Cruz.

This resource is supported by the Department of Ecology and Evolution, the Department of Ocean Sciences, the Division of Physical and Biological Sciences, the National Science Foundation , and the Packard Foundation through its Partnership for Interdisciplinary Research in Coastal Oceans (PISCO). Faculty, staff and students from several campus departments utilize this facility.

MEEG facility instrumentation includes 2 ABI Prism 3100 automated DNA analyzers- one specifically for sequencing, the other is utilized for both sequencing and fragment analysis, a BD FACSCaliber sorting flow cytometer, and a Packard Biosciences robotic liquid handler as well as several PCR machines and support equipment. Separate laboratory space (MEEG Prep Facility) is provided as a convenience to graduate students, faculty, and off-site researchers for sample preparation.
