STEPS Sustaining Donors
The STEPS Institute's Sustaining Donors have provided major contributions to underwrite graduate fellowships, major research collaborations, and other STEPS initiatives.
Dr. Gordon Ringold and Dr. Tanya Zarucki were the founding Donors of the Institute with a vision of fostering interdisciplinary collaborations on major environmental questions. They provided funds to set up the Institute's initial structure and fund a broad range of collaborations on the major STEPS research initiatives.
Dr. Benjamin and Mrs. Ruth Hammett have made a generous award to fund graduate and undergraduate research on issues related to Climate Change. Named the Benjamin and Ruth Hammett Award for Climate Change, this award was announced by Chancellor George Blumenthal at the 2008 Fred Keeley Lecture.
Anonymous: A major donor has generously provided yearly funds for three fellowships -- Christine Eckstrom Fellowship, MRC Greenwood Fellowship, Frans Lanting Fellowship—and multiple research grants for graduate and undergraduate students working on STEPS-related projects.
Mrs. Diane Cooley and Mr. Don Cooley have funded the MRC Greenword Fellowship Award in Biodiversity Conservation with the goal of fostering environmental research that has direct relevance and applicability to decisions for the conservation of biodiversity.
The Honorable Fred Keeley has made a planned gift to support the interdisciplinary mission of the STEPS Institute and its goal of addressing large-scale environmental problems.

The STEPS Institute needs Your Help
The STEPS Institute relies
heavily on private support for our work. If you are interested
in discussing a possible donation to The STEPS Institute, please contact Interim Director, James Estes at jestes@ucsc.edu or 831.459.1310. We have a range of current needs in support
of research and would enjoy discussing them individually
to see which of them fit your goals as a donor.
